The Hollywood Reporter Names Dan Abrams One of its Most Influential in Media

On Thursday, May 7th, The Hollywood Reporter released its list of the Top 50 Most Powerful People in New York Media. The list ranges from talk show hosts like Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon, to political and news media figures such as Megyn Kelly, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir, Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough and Gayle King.

Dan was described as “One of the most facile entrepreneurs in news media.” THR pointed out that Dan originally broke onto the scene with his coverage of the O.J. Simpson trial on Court TV, which the Law&Crime Network (which Dan founded and remains the CEO of after selling to Jellysmack in a nine-figure deal), just recently acquired.

When asked what he’d do with two free hours in the city, Abrams answered, “Go to the Bronx Zoo with my five-year-old daughter.” He also revealed that the interview he would most like to book right now is Former FBI director Chris Wray.

The THR article written by Senior Entertainment Editor Mikey O’Connell stated, “… even amid the wild decentralization of power in media, THR‘s survey of its longtime epicenter reveals that New York City remains an unrivaled stronghold — one populated by more stars than ever before.”

THR asked the honorees questions ranging from “What is your daily media diet?” to “Power in media in 2026 is defined by…” starting off the article by noting “All of their answers are correct, which is why we’ve devoted this list to examining the influence and authority of these power players in a sprawling industry that, even when it makes us fly coach, is still a thrilling — and vital — arena in which to work.”
