Jellysmack Acquires Dan Abrams’ Law&Crime in Reported Nine Figure Deal

Jellysmack, a startup dedicated to the growth of online video content, has acquired Law&Crime Network, the legal and true crime network and production company founded by Dan Abrams.

The details of the deal have not been released, but it’s been reported that the agreement values Law&Crime at an astounding nine figures.

Since its creation in 2015 and beginnings as a live-trial network, Law&Crime has risen to the top of the true crime and legal news fields, now broadcasting content to over 5 million YouTube subscribers and 10 million social media followers. In addition, Law&Crime’s production studio has developed documentaries, series and other content for partners like Netflix, HBO, Hulu, A&E, and more.

The agreement will maintain Law&Crime’s current leadership, with Dan Abrams (CEO), Rachel Stockman (President) and Andrew Eisbrouch (COO/general counsel) all staying on in their respective roles.

Founded in 2016, Jellysmack uses artificial intelligence and data to grow video content across platforms, as well as discover up and coming video content creators. Law&Crime represents the latest and largest in a string of acquisitions including content creator development company Network Media and video editing startup Kamua.

In a statement, Abrams said “I’m excited to join forces with a team that has demonstrated unparalleled expertise in maximizing the reach and impact of digital content. Together, we can take the Law&Crime Network to new heights, reaching a global audience that is increasingly hungry for captivating legal and true crime stories.”
