06 Jun SiriusXM Launches ‘Mediaite Press Club’
On June 8, SiriusXM will launch “Mediaite’s Press Club,” an hour-long weekly show analyzing the people and events impacting media and politics. The show will air on Saturdays at 10 a.m. on the P.O.T.U.S channel with reruns at 8 p.m., and the video version will be available on YouTube and Mediaite’s site.
The debut show will feature a long-form interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. He will discuss the media challenges of covering Trump, the upcoming presidential debates and November election.
“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin and media personality Charlamagne tha God are among guests slated to be on future episodes of the show.
Aidan McLaughlin, Mediaite’s editor-in-chief, will host and executive produce the new series. He told Variety that many programs “are boring, chummy conversations between two people with microphones and a lot to agree on. There is ample room for a show that has interviews with media figures, but challenges them because they are incredibly powerful when it comes to informing the public — and challenges them on their coverage.”
“There is a massive world of newsmakers on YouTube, in the podcast space, and a lot of them have audiences that are bigger than some people in cable news,” McLaughlin added.
The show’s presence on SiriusXM will allow it to reach new and wider audiences.
“I am thrilled to expand my relationship with SiriusXM with this new program,” said Mediaite founder Dan Abrams, who hosts his own show on SiriusXM, in a statement for Variety. “Aidan has had really insightful conversations with various top media personalities, including many who rarely do interviews, and airing it on SiriusXM’s prominent POTUS channel will make the show and Mediaite that much bigger.”
