On Mediaite: Newt Gingrich is on a bit of an upswing in the polls, and has decided to say some inflammatory stuff to fan the flames of his popularity, as it were. This time he did it by comparing President Obama with famous Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, saying in a debate “This president is about as candid and accurate as Bernie Madoff in what he tells the American people.” Wow! Geekosystem covers a new brand of slippers that come with LED lights affixed to the front, presumably to help their owners see in the dark during a late-night trip to the bathroom or kitchen. Scoff if you must, but I bet this would drastically cut down on the number of injuries sustained from stepping on toys/bugs/cats in the middle of the night. To read the full post, click here.

Styleite has one Victoria Secret model’s totally intense pre-Vicky’s fashion show diet regiment. Adriana Lima drinks a gallon of water a day and protein shakes with exciting things like powdered egg in them, then abstains from all food and water for twelve hours before the show. Sportsgrid reports that while the Jets handled the Bills this weekend, winning 27 to 11, quarterback Mark Sanchez had a bit of an episode when facing off with Bills corner Drayton Florence, flinching visibly for a moment. Victory aside, he probably got made fun of a bit after the game. To read the full post and see video of Sanchez flinching like a baby, click here.

Gossip Cop has an interview with Mariah Yeater, who has accused Justin Bieber of impregnating her backstage at the Staples Center in L.A. after a concert (every girl’s dream!). Yeater’s credibility was recently called into question as she apparently claimed another man was the father of her baby before setting her sights on Bieber. To see Yeater’s interview, click here.

On The Mary Sue today: you know you’ve made it when you get a Google Doodle in your honor, and today’s lucky Google Doodle-ee is Marie Curie, whose 144th birthday was today. To have a look, click here.

Mogulite reports on new developments in Zuccotti Park, which include Port-A-Pottys and $19,200 in new tents. Some of the tents have dimensions commensurate with a standard New York City studio apartment. That is mind-boggling. Also, I hope they are getting space heaters for the winter! Especially for those big, drafty, apartment-sized tents! To read the full post, click here.
